Goal-Setting Mistakes - How To Accomplish Your Dreams

Have you had a longstanding goal that you've tried and tried to accomplish yet it never gets done? You might have struggled with it for years, seen some positive glimpses of fruition here and there, but somehow it's always out of reach. There are some very good reasons for it that just might surprise you!

1. Have Clear Goals That Excite You

The truth is, only 5 out of every 100 people achieve the success they desire. So what’s so special about successful people? How are they different? Why are they succeeding at their dreams and you aren’t? The answer is easy, successful people know exactly what they want and they stop at nothing to achieve it. They don’t let that fearful little voice inside sabotage them, nor do they let the negativity in their past control them. Despite poverty, abuse, health problems, or other obstacles, they excelled.

2. Stay Focused No Matter What

People who fail are really not that different than those who succeed. (Trust me, I've failed many, many times!) After all, they too want to fulfill their dreams and accomplish their goals. The problem is, their minds are all over the place and their past holds them back. They begin working on a goal with complete determination, only to lose steam once they lose sight of their destination, they suffer a setback, or those old patterns rise to the surface.

3. Know What You Want And Why

You can’t succeed at something if you have no idea why you want to achieve it for yourself. Many of us go through life failing at success simply because we’re chasing dreams that aren’t ours. Perhaps these dreams belonged to our parents; it’s what they wanted for us but not what we truly want. Or maybe the dreams you’re chasing found their way into your mind due to what you’ve seen in the media or read in a motivational book. If we followed the media route, we'd forever be chasing the "rich, famous, and beautiful" route. Talk about stress!

4. Release Outgrown Dreams

Or, you may have had this dream when you were much younger and thought all along that this is what you truly want, but as time went on you couldn't admit to yourself that the goal was no longer important. Somehow, we see it as failure if we give up on a dream path that used to be important to us yet we never accomplished it. Why be so hard on yourself? You're meant to change and grow throughout life! I wanted to be a nurse when I was younger and for many years it bothered me that I never accomplished that dream. As I got older I realized that it was a "younger me dream" but I had since outgrown it and wanted to take a different type of healing path.

5. Make New Goals That Align With The Current You

You need to be driven in order to accomplish your goals. All of your energy and motivation comes from the desire to succeed at your very own personal dreams. If you have one or more things on your "to do list" that have been sitting there for months, years, even decades, ask yourself if this is something you really want or if the desire came from some outside influence or yesterday's you. Once you're honest with yourself you should feel a sense of a relief, more clarity, and eagerness to move forward with what truly matters to you.

If you know what you want and are completely focused on achieving it, if you know why you want it and will do whatever it takes to make it happen, then you can’t possibly fail. You will succeed to one degree or another.

What have you been chasing for years yet never accomplished? Who taught you that this was the right path for you? If you could release all of those unfinished tasks and start on something new and you, what would it be? I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comment section! :D

Creating And Using Your Personal Altar

I've received many emails from clients asking how they should go about creating a personal altar. Having an altar will give you a sense of stability and power. It’s a place for you to focus, visualize, and meditate.

Creating Your Personal Altar

1. Your altar could be the top of your dresser, a shelf in the corner, or a table. My personal altar is on the top of my dresser, and I also have a small side table in one corner of the living room for client blessings.

2. Find a piece of cloth to cover your altar, choosing something that resonates with you. There are many websites that offer the meanings of certain colors and many times people will choose a color based on the type of energy they're trying to attract or goal they wish to complete. I haven’t found this necessary. I truly believe that your higher self and guides know just exactly what you need, and it will make your altar 100% unique and personal to you.

When I was at a fabric store I found a one-yard length of dark blue material with glitter stars on it. This piece of cloth made me smile and felt right to me so I bought it and still use it today.

3. A candle in any colory or type you feel drawn to is a good addition to your altar. I sometimes use tapered candles, though usually use tea light candles since I can find so many beautiful holders for them. Also, I do a lot of blessings for clients so I buy A LOT of candles! Tea lights are cheaper and come in everything from non-scented white to just about any scent and color you could imagine. If you aren't sure what color candle to use, white is always the go-to color. It can help cleanse out negative and attract positive, but go with what feels right to you.

4. Other items you may want to keep on hand are incense, small statues you feel drawn to (Jesus, Buddha, animal totem, etc.), an assortment of stones or crystals, whatever you’d like.

I have a lot of fun going to stores and finding new things for my altar. There are those I retire to a drawer then bring them out when I feel the need.

You can also include the four elements: Earth, Air, Fire, Water. A candle can represent Fire, some water in a bowl represents Water, a stone can represent Earth, a feather can represent Air.

Having a clear crystal on your altar is also helpful. You can focus on this during your meditations then carry it with you to remind yourself of your desires and draw upon the power of your intentions.

Your altar can be as plain or fancy as you wish. If it suits you and your personality, it will work. Don’t pressure yourself worrying about what is or isn’t on your altar. As time passes you’ll find exactly what works for you.

Using Your Altar

This is the easiest part. Go to your altar once in the morning soon after you get up then again before going to bed, light the candle, and give thanks for the abundance and positive things in your life. Think of your current wishes/goals, visualize them, imagine them in as much detail as possible as if you're already experiencing them in your life. For example, if you're trying to find true love, how will you feel and how will your life change once you find it? Ask your guides/angels to bring you the necessary tools and opportunities to make your dreams become reality. Ask that you remain awake and open to their signs and guidance. Now leave it in the hands of your guides and higher self and go about your day or go to bed.

This short ritual keeps your optimism strong and helps to shift your mind and energy toward your goals.  :)

How Do I Strengthen My Psychic Abilities?

The number one way to strengthen a psychic gift is to practice using it more often, every day if you can. Use it or lose it. You don’t need special equipment or stones or potions or what have you. All you need is yourself. Now, depending on which psychic ability you’re working on will determine how you should strengthen it.

If you want to clearer dream messages from your guides, deceased loved ones, your higher self, or even your soul mate, while you lay in bed at night and before falling asleep ask your guides (or whomever) to come into your dream. Ask a question and for them to make their messages clear, and tell yourself that you’ll remember the dream when you wake up. As soon as you awake from the dream write it down. Keep a notebook and pen by your bed just for this purpose. Over time you should find that your dreams become more focused and helpful.

If you want to sharpen your gift of psychometry (being able to read objects), an excellent way to do this is to visit antique stores. Take your notebook and pen with you and if an object seems to catch your attention, hold it and see what information you get. Sometimes there’s no way to check if what you’re feel or see is true, but it’s still a very good way to hone this ability. You can also get a few envelopes and have a friend or family member put a photo in each envelope and seal it. You can then choose one envelope and write down in your notebook, or say aloud, what you sense is inside. You don’t have to be right on the money, but you could sense a color, object, or time period. Do this with each envelope then open them and see how close you were.

These are just two ways to enhance your abilities. I cover more in my short yet very helpful book Psychic Living - Developing Your Intuition.

Should I focus on my strongest psychic ability or all of them?

Every good psychic is well-rounded. Even if you don’t plan to offer your psychic readings professionally and only want to do it for yourself, it’s good to focus on all psychic abilities. Over time you may find that some come and go, one is strongest and one or a couple others are there but not as strong, or you could uncover other abilities you never knew you possessed.

In my own experience I started out doing automatic writing and getting in contact with my higher self and spirit guides. I then tried tarot, psychometry, lucid dreaming, dowsing, and many more. There’s not much I haven’t tried and it was very eye-opening and exciting. Through my journeys I discovered that I’m very good at reading past lives, connecting with spirit guides, psychic empathy, and clairvoyance, along with a few others. I also found out that I’m not very good at finding lost objects or dowsing. When I think over everything I’ve explored it really excites me because it opened new doorways that forever would have been closed had I not taken the initiative to give it a try. I also met a lot of interesting and wonderful people along the way.

Focus on your strongest trait and always work on this, but try new things all the time. You may be surprised at what you find!

Light and blessings,

Kelly

Still Struggling? Here's Why

Are you stuck in one or more areas of life and, no matter how hard you try, things stay the same or move forward at a snail’s pace? Why does this happen? Why are you still struggling despite your best efforts? How can you be successful?

The answers to these questions are actually pretty simple yet they might not be what you want to hear. It seems that most people are looking for the magic answer that will propel them from point A to point Z over night. It doesn’t work that way. I know you don’t actually expect instant results but you do want to see some results for your efforts, right? Then why is your life stubbornly stuck?

Whether you want to find your soulmate, get a better job, end your financial worries once and for all, shed those extra pounds, or find your life purpose, it all has to do with the connection between your brain and your soul. As you go through life you’re in a constant tug-of-war with your logical mind and your spiritual soul. Also, your gray matter has had some faulty programming along the way due to your past. What you grew up with is who you’ve become, like it or not. Sure, you can change it, but it takes time.

Maybe you’re aware that the past has really done a number on you or perhaps you’re totally oblivious. The bottom line is you want things to be different. A few of the reasons why your life isn’t moving or you can’t find what you’re looking for are:

The One Track Soul

The more I do readings the more I realize that the soul prefers to handle one problem at a time. Once that’s taken care of it can move on to something else. For example, I have several clients that have been struggling with their jobs. Some want out and want a better job but they can’t seem to find one. Others are dealing with negative people in the office who make it impossible to enjoy their work. Still others are simply bored and want a more fulfilling career. Since working takes up a great deal of time every day it’s naturally at the forefront of their mind. However, some of these clients also want to find their soulmate, but true love remains elusive. Why?

Since their careers are on their mind so much the brain and soul consider this a top priority and everything else is pushed aside. What you focus on expands. It doesn’t matter if Mr. or Ms. Right was standing in front of them, they wouldn’t notice this person or would somehow find fault. Their souls are in “career mode” and until they do something about it true love will be difficult, if not impossible, to find. This is the frustration of dealing with the one-track soul.

The best way to blast through this problem is to learn how to let things go and not bring them home with you, or to really rev up your career engines and get things moving. How often have you told yourself that you’re trying hard and doing all you can? Think about it though, are you really? Most of the time we spend far more time worrying and thinking than actually doing! Rather than dwelling on how badly you want things to change make a commitment to do something about it each and every day. Taking small steps will add up to big changes over time.

Karmic Lessons

This is the other reason why life gets stuck or we keep finding ourselves in the same situations again and again. In past lives and even our current life we’ve made mistakes, hurt others, and have hurt ourselves as well. A past life reading can uncover your most important karmic lesson at this time, but an easy way to find out what it is you need to heal and mend is to take a look at your life and see where it isn’t working. What’s the major problem right now? Is it the fact that you’re in a bad relationship or keep choosing people who don’t treat you right? Does money slip through your fingers no matter how careful you try to control it? Do you struggle with weight or anxiety or low self-esteem or anger or addictions or anything else that continuously holds you back? Read the rest here...

The Difference Between Success And Failure

SuccessImage by aloshbennett via Flickr
The truth is, only 5 out of every 100 people achieves the success they desire. So what’s so special about successful people? How are they different? Why are they succeeding at their dreams and you aren’t? The answer is easy, successful people know exactly what they want and they stop at nothing to achieve it.

People who fail are really not that different than those who succeed. After all, they too want to fulfill their dreams and accomplish their goals. The problem is, their minds are all over the place. They begin working on a goal with complete determination, only to lose steam once they lose sight of their destination, they suffer a setback, or something new comes along. In other words, they lose focus or never had it in the first place.

If you know what you want and are completely focused on achieving it, if you know why you want it and will do whatever it takes to make it happen, then you can’t possibly fail. You will succeed to one degree or another.

Another aspect that separates success from failure is knowing why you want what you want. You can’t succeed at something if you have no idea why you truly want it for yourself.

Either way, you’ll never achieve those goals since they aren’t truly yours. You need to be driven in order to accomplish your goals. All of your energy and motivation comes from the desire to succeed at your very own personal dreams.
